A Tale of an Impatient Cinderella
Once upon a time, a Cinderella whose fairy granted her wish to a party, met a handsome prince. They fell in love with each other since the first time their eyes met at the very front door. The prince, who was still under training to become a king, could not afford to treat Cinderella like a princess because, at that time, he was still under surveillance of the king and the queen.
Cinderella said that it was okay. Cinderella was an independent woman who could have a party by herself, let alone have a party with many people around. Cinderella socializes with everyone in the castle while keeping her eyes only on the prince who works very hard even during a fun time.
After some time, Cinderella knew the prince was different and all she wanted to do was to be by his side and make him hers. So, Cinderella gave up the party and started to build a partnership with the prince to achieve the goal faster. Sometimes, she missed dancing and singing with people, but she knew what the prince doing was more important than any DJ playlist in the world.
Cinderella never hid the intention of her feelings. She told the prince that she wanted to be his queen once he took the throne. The prince said that she should wait until he became a king. He said that he promised they would be together. Cinderella understood, that being a king was a tough journey. She would wait and always be there to support him.
Then the clock was ticking. Right before the prince takes the throne, the magic wears off. Cinderella had to go home and face her real life there. She left half of her most precious glass slipper, asking him to keep it and be careful not to break it. She said to the prince that she would wait for him, but please don’t be too late. She couldn’t wait to build a castle with him, a place that she thought would make them very happy together.
The prince promised to pick her up with the white horse and Cinderella believed in his words. She thought it would work out just fine. Because he was with the prince, the one her heart chose at the party full of people.
Then time passed very quickly. Days turned to weeks, then it turned to months and years. The Prince was a King now and was very busy holding so many responsibilities. So did Cinderella, who was busy creating her own small kingdom. She had parties and met so many other princes, but all she could think about was that particular King.
Every day, she still opened and cleaned her other glass slipper which she put carefully on the glass shelves. She opened the door every morning, wishing that one day the king would show up with a white horse as he promised. She would imagine, how fast she would run and how tight she would finally hug him.
However, as time went by, no one came. At first, she thought that the king might not know her new address, but then she remembered on the internet, that he could find her anytime, even on his busy days. He would find a way only if he wanted to.
Cinderella grew tired and fed up with waiting. She became so impatient. She decided that was about her time to move on. She packed her glass slipper and put it in the storage box. She sent a letter to the king, telling him that she would go on with her life, focusing on her own dreams and goals. She started to make her own party wearing her new leather slippers. Sometimes, while socializing she cannot help but envy when she realizes, that all of her friends have built their own castle while all she has is just a kingdom with only a queen.
After a long time, the king showed up at one of the parties. When he arrived, he was enraged by the view of Cinderella flirting with another prince from a faraway land. The king felt betrayed. He left immediately after throwing her glass slippers to the wall and breaking it into pieces. He said that if Cinderella had waited a little longer, things would have been different! Everything was Cinderella’s fault for being so impatient.
Cinderella did not ask the pointless question she had been asking for a long time. How much longer was long enough for the king to make her wait?
She sighed, stopped the party, and asked the other prince to leave. She took her broom and started to clean again. The fairy came with concerned eyes, saying that unfortunately, the glass slipper could not be fixed. Cinderella said everything was fine because she could always find other good quality leather shoes. Although she knew, leather shoes were not comfortable to wear and it was not even available in the color she wanted.
After quite some time, there was another party hosted by the king. He published his activity on social media so his followers would see how great he was and how he recovered quickly from a heartbreak. Though it was sad, Cinderella knew things like this were bound to happen someday. He would live his own life, and so did she.
Then on one fine day, the prince cited a savage quote for his social media.
It said, “Sorry I came late, I didn’t want to come.”
For the first time, all the questions and answers became crystal clear.
Then Cinderella whispered, “I know, that was why I decided to let you go.”
I wish you would find someone who makes you think “Now is a good time.” Then you come immediately and you make your dream come true.
